Outdoor/Summer Track & Field
The outdoor summer track and field program focuses on aiming to develop young student-athletes holistically. The emphasis is on skill development, enhancing physical fitness, promoting character development, and fostering a healthy competitive environment. Here's a breakdown of the primary focuses:

-
Skill Development:
-
Technique Training: Teaching proper techniques in running, jumping, and throwing events to ensure safety and effectiveness.
-
Event-Specific Training: Depending on the age and skill level, athletes will receive training in a variety of events to identify their strengths.

-
Physical Fitness:
-
Endurance: Building cardiovascular fitness through running activities.
-
Strength and Power: Age-appropriate strength and conditioning exercises to build muscle and improve athletic performance.
-
Speed and Agility: Drills to improve quickness, reaction time, and coordination.
-
Flexibility: Stretching exercises to enhance flexibility and reduce the risk of injury.
-
-
Character Development:
-
Sportsmanship: Teaching athletes to compete with integrity and respect for others.
-
Teamwork and Cooperation: Even though track and field can be an individual sport, relay events, and team points in meets foster a sense of teamwork.
-
Goal Setting: Helping young athletes learn to set and strive for personal goals.
-

-
Competitive Experience:
-
Participating in local or regional track meets to gain experience in a competitive setting.
-
Learning to manage nerves and perform under pressure.
-
-
Safety and Education:
-
Educating athletes on the importance of proper warm-up and cool-down routines.
-
Teaching the importance of hydration and nutrition, especially in outdoor summer conditions.
-
-
Inclusivity and Personal Growth:
-
Programs often emphasize personal improvement over winning, fostering a growth mindset.
-
Inclusivity in terms of welcoming all skill levels and encouraging each athlete to improve at their own pace.
-
-
Community Building:
-
Fostering a sense of community among athletes, coaches, and parents.
-
Engaging in community events or team-building activities.
-
Summer youth track and field programs are not only about developing athletic abilities but also about instilling a love for the sport, promoting general health and fitness, and teaching life skills that extend beyond the track.

* All athletes are required to help raise funds for the team. Fundraising helps offset the membership fee for the team and ensures that equipment can be replaced and/or purchased, as well as allows for team event celebrations. If athletes do not participate in the fundraiser they can pay a one-time fee of $150 or 3 payments of $50 each month.
