GP Storm Off-Season Track & Field Program

Refine Your Skills, Strengthen Your Athletic Performance

Offseason training is critical for athletes to continue improving their

physical fitness, skillset, and overall performance. Off-season training serves

several purposes, including maintaining and enhancing an athlete's fitness

level, addressing weaknesses, building strength and endurance, refining

mechanics and technique, and preventing injuries. It's a time for athletes

to focus on their individual needs and work on specific aspects of their

performance that require attention.

Training Focus & Components:

During the offseason, athletes engage in a variety of training components to target different aspects of their fitness and skills:

  • Strength Training: Athletes incorporate strength training exercises to build core strength, power, and overall body resilience. This will involve bodyweight exercises and resistance training.

  • Endurance Workouts: Distance runs, interval training, and aerobic exercises to enhance cardiovascular fitness and stamina.

  • Speed and Agility Drills: Athletes work on linear speed, acceleration, reaction time, deceleration, and change of direction (lateral speed) through drills and exercises that simulate track movements.

  • Technical Improvement: Refine running, jumping, and throwing mechanics and technique.

  • Flexibility and Mobility: Stretching regimen and mobility exercises to improve flexibility, enhance performance, reduce the risk of injury, and promote muscle recovery.
